The Life Blood of the Organization
Positive Alternatives is a volunteer driven organization. The Director of Positive Alternatives is the only paide staff member. If you feel compelled to share your time and talent with women who need your help, please contact us. New volunteers are recruited and trained on a regular basis.
Every volunteer serving in the area of direct client contact receives initial training and continuing training through attendance at periodic in-service meetings. Additional leadership training and periodic contacts with similar pregnancy centers is obtained through attendance at regional or national workshops.
What Our Volunteers Do
Activities of volunteers include work in the following categories:
- Interviews, referrals, and supervision of self-adminstered pregnancy tests by clients, client follow up.
- Liason with community services and community organizations
- Clerical work (statistics, filing, records)
- Fundraising
- Publicity and Advertising
- Newsletter
- Procurring office suppiies and literature
- Tutoring
- Lending room
- Prayer support
- Office cleaning
- Babysitting
- Painting and repairs
